Hello all!
I’m still waiting on some orders –  fingers crossed that they’ll get here this week!
It sucks not getting to try new Korean products, especially because I want to share everything with you, but I hope this can tide you over.
As mentioned in my previous post (Yves Saint Laurent Lipsticks) these are my favorite lip stains to use – they’re glossy, they go on smooth, but they leave a gorgeous color that’ll leave a light stain after application.
Taken from Sephora,
A revolutionary new lip product that combines the texture and shine of a gloss with the long wear of a stain.
Coat your lips with this lip color that offers a lightweight texture, which immediately melts onto lips. Glossy Stain delivers intense glossy color for an extremely long-lasting shine.”
The glossy lip stain is no bigger than three inches tall. The twist-off top has the classic YSL logo, showing the stain’s color on the side of the base. It tightly locks and you feel a click when you’re closing it. It also features a “revolutionary” slanted applicator that I found useful when applying. It has a very soft brush, and product isn’t wasted at all. I’m not sure of the bottle’s design, but there must be something to wipe off excess lip gloss from the applicator – just a hunch!
The slanted applicator is perfect for Cupid’s Bow lips!
The fancy applicator!
I bought 7 colors, all swatched below so you can get an idea of the colors. They will be listed later, so no worries!

The stains after 10 minutes!

No. 7 – Corail Aquatique

No. 7 – Corail Aquatique:

This is my daily lip stain, no joke. It adds enough pink to my lips to attract attention in a subtle way – I love it. The shade is a very watery coral – think of coral as a watercolor, and you’ll have the right shade. Since my lips have a natural pink tint to them and this is a little lighter, it gives my lips an orange-coral tinge – I think it’s gorgeous!

No. 9 – Rouge Laque

No. 9 – Rouge Laque: This is an electric red. It has a warm tone to it, so it might look too orange on cool skin tones. I recommend wearing concealer under this, just in case – you’ll get one heck of a red pop! I think this would be great for going out, if you downplayed your other make-up. This might be a little overwhelming on delicate faces, but I think it works for me!

No. 11 – Rouge Gouache

No. 11 – Rouge Gouache: Swatches of this looked more like a watery berry, and these pictures make this color look like a “Classic Red”… but it’s not. It’s more of a rich red leaning towards a berry tone. I applied this on my lips twice , so maybe that’s why the color is so intense. It might be because my lips are naturally pink. If anything, go off of the swatches above.

No. 12 – Corail Fauve

No. 12 – Corail Fauve: I feel like a doge meme when I wear this, because all I can say is ‘WOW’ and ‘SO COLOR’. I’m a huge fan of coral, because it’s such a fun color. I think it’ll look gorgeous on paler skin.

No. 15 – Rose Vinyl

No. 15 – Rose Vinyl: Bubblegum pink. It’s a pretty color for those with pale skin, that’s for sure. It shows up too light on me but I think it’s a cute color anyways. It’s also very buildable..

No. 20 – Rouge Enamel: This is the classic red. It appears too orange on my face due to flash, but I assure you – it’s red.

No. 31 – Corail Alla Prima: Out of all, this probably is my luxury one. It’s a contrast to the first one you saw, Number 7, and I think it’s the prettiest. You can tell I love coral, so maybe I’m a little bit biased. It’s more pigmented than No. 7, so it adds more color to the face overall.

Smell: Very light fragrance, the same as the YSL Rouge Pur Couture Lipsticks.
Appearance: Liquidy, but it becomes tacky after a few minutes.
Texture: Very smooth.
Value: Kind of expensive.

OVERALL RATING: ★★★★★★☆☆☆☆/ 6 out of 10
First off, I LOVE Yves Saint Laurent. I love their colors, their scents, the little details that make it look so classic.. but this isn’t the best.
First off, the gloss doesn’t last, like many other lip glosses, but even the stain goes. As seen earlier with the picture comparing the stains, it’s not so much a stain at all, but a light “coloring” of your lips. It also highlights dry areas of your lips, so I’d recommend exfoliating if you do get this. It may be drying, and requires constant reapplication. I also noticed that, on occasion, it provided very uneven coverage and looked streaky.

The awesome thing is how pigmented they are, and they smell very delicate – like a French parfum, but it is light and airy, not heavy and icky. To me it was moisturizing, and I loved the staying power of the stain. Even though it doesn’t stain a lot, I like it – it gives your lip a little color even after it has faded.

Would I Buy This Again?
I bought 7 of these – even though they have their faults, I’ve always loved the way it looks and feels on my lips. If nothing better comes along, then I’ll definitely keep buying these. It has a variety of colors, and it can be found in a myriad of stores (Macy’s, Nordstrom, Saks, etc.).
I hope you enjoyed this review, and until next time! (AKA, when Rachel gets her freakin’ products).
